AR/VR Africa Brings Together Extended Reality [XR] Creators To Develop And Innovate For Africa's Biggest Challenges.
The 2022 AR/VR Africa Metathon is a blend of capacity building, empowerment, and responsible contributions to solving Africa's biggest challenges using extended reality [XR] technologies.
LAGOS, NIGERIA: On December 2nd, teams across sixteen African countries will converge in select cities as participants of the 48-hour AR/VR Africa Hackathon with the goal of developing XR solutions across healthcare, education, business applications, tourism and social impact verticals.
The hackathon, which is the second phase of the AR/VR Africa Metathon, commenced online on the 26th of November, allowing African teams outside the sixteen countries to hack virtually. Winners will be announced at prize-giving ceremonies on December 4th, with in-country winners receiving up to $1,500 in prize money, and an overall African prize of $10,000.
This year’s program is a continuation of Ìmísí 3D’s XR talent acceleration initiatives on the continent and is organized in partnership with Meta, BlackRhinoVR, and our AR/VR Africa Country Partners in Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Egypt, Ethiopia, Ghana, Mozambique, Namibia, Rwanda, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania, Tunisia, and Uganda.
